Leonard Baca, beloved professor emeritus of education and former director of the BUENO Center for Multicultural Education at the University of Colorado Boulder, passed away on March 23, 2026. Dr. Baca was a member of several professional organizations including the National Association of Bilingual Education, Teachers of English as a Second Language, the Council for Exceptional Children, the National Association for Multicultural Education and the American Educational Research Association. He served on the editorial boards of several journals including the Bilingual Research Journal, Multicultural Perspectives, and Remedial and Special Education.
